On Bated Breath, In The Land Of Honey
Slow down. Take a deep breath. Enjoy the movements, and improve your stage presence to boot. This workshop is all about the rich and creamy, the gooey and the dreamy. The use of well-placed and carefully chosen slow movements can make a dancer appear experienced beyond their years. Much of this is relative to the flow of energy through the body. In this class we will dance a fresh choreography, all the while focusing our intentions upon the breath and the flow of chi (ki, prana) through the entire body. Healthy, fun, and intense.
12:00pm - 2:00pm (Sharon Kihara)

Hits 'n Ticks
This workshop is about the fundamentals of pop ‘n’ lock and what it means to Tribal Fusion, and how we apply it to belly dance. We will work on the technical side through resistance and control. Pop ‘n’ locking is not just about slamming parts of your body from one place to another; the intricacies and detailed control is what spectators enjoy watching and this is what will be drilled and scrutinized in this workshop. Frédérique will go over the nuances to accomplish tight and clean hits ’n’ ticks and will lecture on how and when to use them along with the music for articulation and expression.
Class begins with a short lecture and ends with Q and A. (New exercises just for The Tribal Massive!)
