Sometimes we forget that delicate and soft movements can be so powerful on stage. This class will focus on motifs and subtle elements that you can add to your movements. Combinations will be introduced utilizing these ideas and will help to find subtle elements to compliment your own style.

Inspiration For Improvisation
This workshop is designed to light a fire up under your ASS! UNMATA's latest concepts, theories and tricks for "wingin' it and bringin' it." Suitable for all levels of dancers, but you'd better be able to work well with others.

Moving With Intention
We will focus on dancing nice and slow with purpose. Isolations will be broken down and pieced together in order to move deliberately and consciously. Working on new movements in this way helps to create smooth transitions that in turn creates amazing fast combinations. Several combinations will be introduce and drilled and put together at the end of class for a short choreography.

Developing a Dialogue
One of the strongest assets as artists we can develop is our ability the dialogue about our art form. This creates a connection both practical and theoretical that allows us to deepen our understanding of the concepts we work on in class, see in performance, and experience as dancers.

Lair For Layering
The Lady Fred’s comprehensive approach to layering is an introductory workshop for those who are interested in solidifying their technique, or those who simply want to learn how to organize and create their own drills in order to accomplish cleaner, tighter layers. She will go over the fundamentals in what makes layering delectable to your spectators and peers alike, and why. You will work on articulating the hips, chest, shoulders, and head through technique and drills making it all come together with fluidity. Drills will consist of variations in time signatures & isolations, while adding other flourishes to express the moment in the music. The frame work of your articulations; head, arms, hands, and torso for/aft position will be heavily scrutinized.
Class begins with a short lecture and ends with Q and A.

STATIC - "An Experimental Workshop"
How do you handle the noise in your head when you encounter it in Art and performance? Let's find out. This is an intimate look at the very beginnings of working with "Static". Learning to attack the insecurities and personal obstacles in your life that haunt you and destroy productivity in creation. Bring a pen and notebook. Lecture and deep thinking lab work.

Up In Arms
The Lady Fred is known for revolutionizing the use of arms in Tribal Fusion belly dance through her unique and signature style of fluidity, grace, and emotionally charged movement. Learn her technical approach and discover a whole new world of using your arms in dance. There is no such thing as, “My arms are too short.” or “My arms are long and lanky.” She will teach you how to love and use what you’ve got to your advantage. We will work on: fluidity, range of motion, framework, and exploring ways to find your own style with what you were blessed with. This workshop will be a different approach to your usual training as The Lady Fred has created & designed an unconventional training process specifically for arms that has proven to work.

Shimmy Shenanigans
Shimmies are a fundamental aspect of belly dance, you can’t call yourself a belly dancer if you can’t shimmy. But how many different types of shimmies can you do? And how well can you do them? These are the very things we will be focusing on; The Lady Fred’s take on different types of shimmies and their technique. Technique will be what we focus on the most; we all probably know a couple of shimmies, how well do we execute them is the question. Prepare for standing on your feet for a long time as we drill-drill-drill several types shimmies and their techniques.
